This is one of the few times that I actually enjoy listening to a modern electronic album. And that is maybe because Alien Nature's "Station Platforms" doesn't really sound modern but rather vintage and old school. It is a concept album with field recordings from crowded train stations around the world. There are many interesting sounds made with drum machines and synthesizers that remind me of the 70s and 80s. This album is a real discovery. Dont miss it!

Arcane - Future Wreck (2000)
Arcane date back to the early 70's but this new album by surviving members Gerhard Schreck and Hans-Ulrich Buchloh and an unidentified new member is bang up to date with four lengthy tracks of sequencer riffing and cosmic exploration.. Dark atmospheres and ethereal pads combined with sequencers create an amazing album. There are also ambient moments with flute, melotron and rhodes piano. Highly recommended! Here (flac) - part 1

Richard Pinhas - Iceland
And now an album for the cold afternoons of December.
Richard Pinhas , guitarist of famous progressive-electronic rock band "Heldon", has numerous solo works. "Iceland" (his third solo work) is influenced by music of John Carpenter, Morricone, and Edward Artemiev. This album could be a soundtrack of an obscure sci-fi movie. There are dense electronic sounds, cinematic passages, cold and melancholic drones, creating a phenomenal chilling atmosphere.
Enjoy in flac format (2 parts)

Klaus Schonning - Lydglimt (1979)
Klaus Schønning was born in 1954 in Denmark and started his musical career as a street musician in Copenhagen earning money to record his first album in 1979 called “Lydglimt” (Glimpses of Sound), one of the first albums released with new age music, even before New Age music became an established international genre. To be honest this album doesnt sound "new age" to my ears. This is more like a mixture of space-krautrock and melodic synthesizer music. Almost like a soundtrack to a 70s cult movie! One of my favourite synthesizer albums!
Get it while you can...

Rudiger Lorenz - Silver Steps (1981)
The second solo album (SYN 002) by Rudiger Lorenz released in Cassette format, in 1982 (really hard to find). My favourite track is track 4 where he plays Bach on a modular synth. On the first half, the piece if performed in a normal tempo by Rudiger himself. The second half of the piece is played by a sequencer in an insane tempo. All tracks are really enjoyable inspite the fact of their experimental style. Conrad Schnitzler helped a lot in the productiion of this album.

The Flow - Incubation

The 'Flow' is a progressive/psychedelic/space rock band from Patras, Greece. They were formed in 2000 and since then, they have released one album called 'Incubation' (released in 2003) and have played many concerts in Greece. Their style revolves around 60's krautrock and progressive rock of the 70's. Some of their influences are Gong, Ashra Temple, Can, Agitation free, Van Der Graaf Generator and many more. Furthermore they blend traditional folk Greek melodies played by original traditional Greek instruments such as 'daouli' (a kind of drum) and the 'flute of Pana' (ancient Greek flute). They also love blending the old sound (vintage synths) with the modern one (laptop).
Thanasis Nikolakopoulos - Vocals
Thanasis Oikonomopoulos - "thaneco" - Synthesizers/laptop
Akis Bousias - Guitar
Yannis Stathopoulos - Bass
Nikos Barounis - drums

The Flow - Flowing In Infinite Darkness (re-uploaded)
RE-UPLOADED after many requests because massmirror sucks (this time at Mediafire-320kbps)
This album was supposed to be released as vinyl in limited copies. Unfortunately it didn't work out so we offer it here for free. Some info about the songs:
Tracks 1,2,3,and 4 are written by Thaneco with help from Akis Bousias.
Track 5 is a different version from the original appearing in "incubation".
The last three tracks came out completely from improvisation.
Progressive/psychedelic rock with lots of imagination. Enjoy this amazing Greek band!
